Eleanor Oliphant has learned how to survive – but not how to live

Eleanor Oliphant leads a simple life. She wears the same clothes to work every day, eats the same meal deal for lunch every day and buys the same two bottles of vodka to drink every weekend.

Eleanor Oliphant is happy. Nothing is missing from her carefully timetabled life. Except, sometimes, everything.

One simple act of kindness is about to shatter the walls Eleanor has built around herself. Now she must learn how to navigate the world that everyone else seems to take for granted – while searching for the courage to face the dark corners she’s avoided all her life.

Change can be good. Change can be bad. But surely any change is better than… fine?

What a wonderful story. The characters are vividly brought to life. The content is equally funny and filled with sadness that makes it so hard to put down. I can’t find such eloquent words as Eleanor would to describe the emotions this evoked. As a mum of two kids i rarely have time to complete books. This was read in two days!!! A new world record I’m sure! Can’t recommend highly enough.

As an advanced 13 year old reader, I feel as if this book was really empowering, humorous and it made me extremely emotional at times; especially at the end! I actually took this book on holiday just to read at the pool or the beach in between sunbathing and swimming but i actually spent most of the holiday reading this! I seriously couldn’t put it down until i had finished! I HIGHLY recommend this book if you’re looking for a laugh or even a little cry. :)

Gorgeous tale of a person’s journey through adult life and bouncing back of a troubled past. Watching Eleanor’s progression throughout the book and the ways in which she attempts to deal with everyday life and the problems that accompany it. Beautiful story of friendship, love, mental health and learning to enjoy life!

Loved this, heartbreaking though it was, very witty and such a refreshing personality, the lovely Eleanor. Much appreciated the observations of her surroundings, the way you start to bond with her and find people either annoying or helpful, emphatic or clueless. Thank you for creating this little masterpiece, very inspiring.
