'This is one of his best' - The Times

Jack Reacher is back in a brand new white-knuckle read from Lee Child.

It's a random universe, but once in a blue moon things turn out just right.

In a nameless city, two rival criminal gangs are competing for control. But they hadn’t counted on Jack Reacher arriving on their patch.

Reacher is trained to notice things.

He’s on a Greyhound bus, watching an elderly man sleeping in his seat, with a fat envelope of cash hanging out of his pocket. Another passenger is watching too ... hoping to get rich quick.

As the mugger makes his move, Reacher steps in.

The old man is grateful, yet he turns down Reacher’s offer to help him home. He’s vulnerable, scared, and clearly in big, big trouble.

What hold could the gangs have on the old guy? Will Reacher be in time to stop bad things happening?

The odds are better with Reacher involved. That's for damn sure.

Disagree with the 2* ratings . This is good-reading Reacher. The only unbelievable aspect for me was not the number of bullets dodged, but the willingness and efficiency of the (semi)-lay people Reacher recruited

But this one was disappointing. It’s like Lee watched John Wick and thought Reacher can do that and not even get a scratch! Too many ‘executions’ and stretched ‘believability’ too far. A shame. I hope it’s an aberration as I really enjoy this series normally.
  • Not his best

Ended up flicking through lots of this.Pages and pages of dull description of doors, and elevators. Two organised crime groups who are all stupid right up to the top.Their mission is to die in incredible numbers with no impact on anyone or anything else. At one stage a large group of Ukrainians kill each other to save Jack reacher the bullets,or the time.Or it might have been the Albanians. My spellcheck thing tried to write Ukuleles so it could have been them. Past caring. I usually like the series but this was plain daft.

Disappointed ... and a little boring .. far fetched and too many dead bodies .. not really Lee Child’s normal entertaining style

A big disappointment. Lee Child allows Jack Reacher to become a psychopath wiping out two rival gangs in a series of massacres. All the old subtlety gone one loses sympathy with the hero.
  • Another Lee Child masterpiece

If you’ve read all of the other Jack Reacher books you will get a good idea where this story is going pretty quickly but that takes nothing away from the intrigue that L C weaves into another great tale.
  • Action packed fun
