Quite simply delightful. Richards use of words is mesmerising. The thought of 'stones soaking up the words' says it all. Brilliant subjects and plots, perfectly written. Genius.

This book reminded me of “Elizabeth is Missing,” which is a good thing! The hilarity of old age, when people can laugh at themselves, the acute sadness of that very same old age, and a brilliant mystery threading its way through the whole thing. Many laugh out loud moments. Very believable characters, who felt like friends by the end. Can’t recommend it highly enough, and can’t wait (but will have to) for the next book!
